[gra'vlo], Hubert François, eigentlich H. F. Bourguignon d'Anville [burgi'ɲɔ̃ dã'vil], französischer Maler und Illustrator, * Paris 26. 3. 1699, ✝ ebenda 19. 4. 1773; Schüler von F. Boucher. 1732-45 lebte er in London, wo er als Lehrer charakteristische Elemente der französischen Rokokomalerei weiter vermittelte; zu seinen Schülern gehörte T. Gainsborough. Er war befreundet mit W. Hogarth. Gravelot gilt als Meister der Vignette, er zeichnete politische Karikaturen und illustrierte viele Bücher. Berühmt wurden v. a. seine Stiche zu G. Boccaccios »Decamerone« (1757-61).
